Who May Need Short-Term Health Insurance?
Short-term health insurance is an inexpensive and temporary (lasting 30 days – 185 days) health insurance plan designed for people who are between permanent health insurance plans:

  • People between jobs
  • People waiting for their employer’s group coverage to begin
  • A recent college graduate who has not yet obtained a job providing group health insurance
  • A temporary or seasonal employee
  • A dependent child who has become too old to be covered on his/her parent’s health insurance plan
  • A laid off, striking or terminating employee

Designed to Protect Against Large Medical Expense
The primary purpose of short-term health insurance is to provide protection in the event of catastrophic medical expense, such as occur with hospitalizations and surgeries.  Short-term health insurance plans are not designed to provide the the generous “extras” provided by many permanent health insurance plans — such as physician office visit co-pay benefits, prescription drug cards and coverage for routine medical examinations.  Short-term coverage benefits are not payable until a covered person has fully satisfied the deductible, which range from $250 to $2500.

Easy to Apply
Applying for short-term health insurance coverage is simple.  Short-term insurance enrollment form requires “yes” or “no” responses to only a few medical questions.  Acceptance for coverage is assured as long as answers to the application’s few health questions are “correct.”

Low Cost
The cost of short-term health insurance is much less than the cost of permanent coverage.  In addition, short-term health insurance can go into effect quickly:

  • Online Enrollment
    Coverage can begin as soon as the day following your completing the online enrollment.
  • Mail-in Enrollment
    Coverage can begin as soon as the day after the postmark date on your return envelope.
